Our ACTS XXIX team recently had the opportunity to watch the film, Nefarious. For those of you who may not be familiar with it, Nefarious is a sobering movie that highlights with extraordinary accuracy the reality of the spiritual battle between good and evil. Fr. John described the film as “the kerygma through the eyes of the enemy,” while my husband described it as “this generation’s Screwtape Letters”. Both are apt descriptions.
Much like this film, one of the many elements that makes The Rescue Project so incredibly powerful is the manner in which Fr. John unmasks the enemy, his tactics and his strategy for our lives. Fr. John often remarks that we can’t possibly appreciate how good the Good News is until we first understand how bad the bad news is.
We witness the bad news pretty much everywhere. Read the headlines. We’re surrounded by family, co-workers, and friends who don’t believe the enemy is real and are crying out for the freedom and hope that only Jesus can give. Because we’re engaged in spiritual combat every day, we in ACTS XXIX want to take as much territory back from the enemy as possible and make Jesus known as LORD.
